The Department of Digital Industry Technologies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was established in 2019 by Law 4589 and belongs to the School of Sciences.
The academic operation of the Department, which includes the educational and research activities of its members are carried out at the premises of the National Academy of Athens University of Technology in Psahna Evia. The Department has educational laboratories that support the curriculum and laboratory units that promote research in the Department's fields of study.
The vision of the Department follows the main European policies in accordance for the renewal of production structures and industry through the 4th industrial revolution with the goal of increasing productivity and production while maintaining environmental sustainability. This objective can only be achieved through the diffusion of modern digital forms of production and their optimisation through information and communication technologies
The digitalisation of all media will provide opportunities for new knowledge and high-level human resources enabling new smart forms of development and work. As digitalisation is a global goal in all economies, old and new, Greek industry, businesses and consumers are looking towards digital technologies for efficient development and creation of products and services.
As digitalisation is driven by knowledge and know-how, it creates an important opportunity in building new productive forces and the consequent social and economic policies that will enable the creation and preservation of new jobs while creating competitive advantage at national, European and international level.
The Department of Digital Industrial Technologies is positioned educationally, research and developmentally in this environment and contributes with the creation of a curriculum that responds to the current technological, educational, developmental and social needs of the new digital reality in industry and production.
